Cubs rumors: Trade deadline looming for Chicago

We’ve yet to reach June, but the writing is already on the wall for the Chicago Cubs. As the summer approaches, it appears it will be more of the same for the Cubbies; they’ll once again be sellers on the trade market. While manager Dale Sveum continues to hold out hope that the team can turn things around, he told Gordon Wittenmyer of The Chicago Sun-Times that he understands that if this doesn’t happen changes are likely coming.

Rockies’ Rafael Betancourt shouldn’t require DL stint

He’s been shut down for the past two days, and he told Thomas Harding of MLB.com that he’s not sure how the ailment has responded since he hasn’t had a chance to test it.
"I feel a little bit better, but I really can't tell you how much different I feel because I was off Wednesday and yesterday I was off and I tried not to do anything," said Betancourt, 10-for-10 on save opportunities and carrying a 1.56 ERA in 19 appearances. "I did some stretching, treatment and exercises. I feel kind of weird, but I think I can go through that. Hopefully, I'll be fine."

The right-hander was hit on his pitching forearm by a line drive that forced his exit from the contest. Still, X-rays were negative, and the Yankees expect Phelps to make his next scheduled start.

Phelps was noticeably frustrated when he was exiting the game, but he told reporters – including Chad Jennings of LoHud.com – that he considers himself lucky to have avoided more serious injury.
