Orioles third baseman Manny Machado was hit by a ground ball yesterday -- or a "top spin line drive" -- that took a bad hop during batting practice. He walked off the field and was being checked by the club's training staff.
Deep breath O's fans... Manny Machado seems to have escaped major injury. Will remain in the line up tonight, despite precautionary X-ray.Reporters had just finished talking to former Orioles manager Dave Trembley, now the Astros third base coach, in front of the visiting dugout when Machado was nailed. Adam Jones was in the batting cage.

The ball hit Machado in the left arm as he tried to spin away from it.
All reports from O's camp conclude Machado appears to be fine. It is not certain whether he was hit by Jones or by one of the coaches.
Fortunately, the ball hit Machado in the muscle area of his arm.
Machado remained in the lineup, according to manager Buck Showalter. Machado may have the arm X-rayed as a precaution, but his streak should continue of starting every game since coming to the majors on Aug. 9, 2012.
