The New York Yankees haven’t finished shopping this winter,
as general manager Brian Cashman told Jim Bowden of ESPN that he’s still
seeking a right-handed-hitting outfielder.

The Yankees have added veterans Juan Rivera and Matt Diaz as
potential right-handed-hitting outfielders, but it appears the team is set on
acquiring a stronger option.
New York’s starting outfield consists of three left-handers;
Curtis Granderson, Brett Gardner and Ichiro Suzuki. For this reason they want
to add a capable batter from the right side of the plate to their bench.
Remaining options are limited, as the Yankees have already
signed Rivera and recently parted ties with Russ Canzler, who is viewed as one
of the best right-handed-hitting reserve options remaining on the market.
Of the remaining free agent outfielders, Bobby Abreu, Johnny
Damon, Scott Podsednik, Michael Bourn and Grady Sizemore are all
left-handed-hitters. Carlos Lee is a free agent that hits from the right side
of the plate, but he didn’t man the outfield at all last season.
