New
York Yankees’ ace CC Sabathia has given his team and Yankee fans reason to
celebrate. As the Yankees’ pitchers and catchers continue to work out at camp,
Sabathia has stated that his initial workouts have gone very well. He feels no pain in his throwing elbow.
Sabathia
had surgery on his left elbow shortly after the American League Championship
Series to remove a bone spur. He expected to return to action as Spring Training
began, and he is right on schedule. The Star Ledger’s Andy McCullough tweeted
to his followers that Sabathia has had no issues with his elbow so far at camp.
CC Sabathia says he's working without restrictions. Plans to throw his first bullpen on Thursday. Says he has full range of motion in elbow.

Another
Yankees’ concern, shortstop Derek Jeter has also had no issues with his initial
workouts. MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch reports that Jeter has worked out at the club’s Minor League complex but expects
to practice at full speed with the team before too long. On February 11, Hoch tweeted,
Derek Jeter started running today. "I'm progressing, like I told you. I'm right where I need to be. I've gotten the ok to do everything."

Jeter also believes he will be ready to play as
the season begins. Said Hoch, “Jeter has said he expects to be playing on
Opening Day, but the Yanks will proceed cautiously since time is on their side.” Jeter is recovering from surgery to repair a broken ankle he suffered during the 2012 ALCS.
Jeter has shaken off notions that this team has grown too old to contend in the division and postseason. Hoch quotes Jeter as saying, "To me, age doesn't make a difference.... If you do well, they say you're experienced. If you don't, they say it's age.... We'll be fine."

Two of the Yankees’ main injury concerns look
promising as the Yankees begin Spring Training. The Yankees are poised to
compete for another A.L. East title and beyond.
