After the Boston Red Sox acquisition of outfielder/first
baseman Mike Carp from the Seattle Mariners, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports
believes the club could send veteran Lyle Overbay to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Addition of Carp by #RedSox could lead to Overbay returning to #Brewers. Overbay in Red Sox camp on minor-league contract.

The Brewers recently lost first baseman Mat Gamel for the
2013 season. They were already without projected Opening Day starter Corey Hart
for the first few months of the season due to injury.
At this point, Milwaukee has made it clear it’s seeking
first base options. It has said that it will first survey in-house possibilities,
including Taylor Green and even shortstop Alex Gonzalez. However, if these
options prove unappealing the Brewers figure to look outside the organization
for first base help.
Rather than target a free agent such as Carlos Lee or Aubrey
Huff, Milwaukee is reportedly more inclined to acquire a player that’s
currently on a minor league contract with another club. Overbay would fit this mold,
as would Travis Ishikawa (Baltimore Orioles) and Juan Rivera (New York
Yankees).
