John Henry, the principal owner of the Boston Red Sox, said
yesterday that he was not selling and that the front office may not be done
making moves to improve the club this offseason, Nick Cafardo of The Boston
Globe reports.

The Red Sox have had an extremely busy offseason, as they’ve
added several high-profile players, including Ryan Dempster, Mike Napoli,
Stephen Drew, Koji Uehara and Shane Victorino. The team also re-signed David
Ortiz and acquired other players such as Jonny Gomes, Mitch Maier, Lyle Overbay,
David Ross, Drew Sutton and Ryan Sweeney.
With Michael Bourn signing with the Cleveland Indians
yesterday, there aren’t many significant names remaining on the free agent
market. While right-hander Kyle Lohse, the top free agent available, has been
tied to the Red Sox, he doesn’t appear to be a fit for the club. Boston could
afford the veteran, but they, like most other teams, are hesitant to surrender
a first-round pick in order to sign him.

Isn't their first round pick within the top ten?
ReplyDeleteFinal move: dump Larry Lucchino
ReplyDeleteIt is protected. They would not have to give it up. They would get their sandwich pick or 2nd round pick
