Nationals Wilson Ramos catches bullpen sessions, will be ready for Opening Day

Wilson Ramos has said it before, but yesterday was a reiteration of sorts without him even needing to say anything.  The Washington Nationals' catcher caught multiple bullpen sessions yesterday for the first time since he tore his ACL.  He is confident he will be ready to go for Opening Day.

Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post says Ramos caught Dan Haren and Ryan Perry in two sessions yesterday.  Kilgore said both the Nationals' manager Davey Johnson and GM Mike Rizzo are confident that Ramos will be ready for Opening Day.  Unless there is a setback that is.

But for now, Ramos is all smiles and feeling good.

“It’s another step,” Ramos said, smiling after today’s workout.
Ramos had a rough year last year for two reasons.  He was kidnapped in his native Venezuela during the offseason.  Police were eventually able to rescued him in time for the season, but then Ramos tore his ACL in May.

The Nationals got decent production out of the catcher's spot last season as Ramos spent the entire year on the DL, but the team is certainly excited to have their every day catcher back.  Ramos hit .265/.354/.398 in the 25 games he was able to play last season.  In his career, he is a .269/.333/.432 hitter.
