Yankees Rumors: New York ‘Not Done Yet’

The New York Yankees have had a fairly inactive offseason, but owner Hal Steinbrenner told Brian Costa of The Wall Street Journal that the team isn’t done yet this winter.

“We’ve signed three or four of the biggest free agents on the market. We’re pretty happy with that. It’s great to have Andy (Pettite) back and (Hiroki) Kuroda and Ichiro (Suzuki). (Kevin) Youkilis I’m excited about. I’ve always liked him as a player. We’ve got some work to do, still. We need another bat. We’re not done yet.”

So far this offseason, the Yankees have re-signed veterans Ichiro Suzuki, Hiroki Kuroda and Andy Pettitte. New York also signed third baseman Kevin Youkilis to help fill the void left by the pending surgery of Alex Rodriguez, along with potential extra outfielder Matt Diaz.

However, Steinbrenner says the Yankees are still “need another bat.” New York has been in the market seemingly all offseason for a right-handed-hitting outfielder. The team has recently been tied to free agent Scott Hairston and Washington Nationals’ Mike Morse.
