White Sox Rumors: No Players are Untouchable

The Chicago White Sox haven’t actively shopped young players, including Dayan Viciedo or Alejandro De Aza, but general manager Rick Hahn told reporters, including Mark Gonzalez of The Chicago Tribune, that no one is untouchable.

The White Sox don’t appear to be inclined to actively pursue a trade of either Viciedo or De Aza, but they also sound willing to listen on any player, based on Hahn’s comments.

Chicago reportedly discussed deals involving both players earlier this winter. Considering there are few options left on the free agent market – unless Chicago wants to acquire Michael Bourn – it seems like they will keep both Viciedo and De Aza in the fold as they enter the 2013 season.

A former top prospect, Viciedo put together his best showing at the major league level to date last season. The 23-year-old hit .255/.300/.444 with 18 doubles and 25 home runs while playing left field and designated hitter.

De Aza got his first shot as a regular at the major league level last season, and he proved effective as the White Sox everyday center fielder. The 28-year-old hit .281/.349/.410 with 29 doubles, six triples and nine home runs over 524 at-bats.
