White Sox and Red Sox Scouting Javier Vazquez

Ken Rosenthal took time away from defending his position on the Hall of Fame debate to give us some actual news.  The Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox are taking a look at Javier Vazquez who is seeming more and more like he will come out of retirement.

Vazquez has been throwing for teams for the last few weeks, and he has impressed.  Vazquez had always been a decent pitcher in his career, and it seemed he left the game a little too early.  He is just 36 years old and as long as he can continue to prove he is in baseball shape, he could be a nice addition for a team looking for a veteran pitcher.

The White Sox and the Red Sox are furiously trying to keep up in their respective leagues.  Pitching can help, and Vazquez could help.  He will have to stay healthy after taking an entire season off - not always an easy proposition.  Vazquez managed to stay healthy throughout most of his career, but his durability if he comes back will certainly be in question.

In his career, Vazquez has pitched for six different teams.  He has 443 starts under his belt in 14 seasons.  Overall, Vazquez has posted a 165-160 record with a 4.22 ERA.
