The Twins have used multiple transactions to revamp their starting
rotation entering the 2013 season. Minnesota acquired Vance Worley and Trevor
May from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for Ben Revere. They also signed
veteran Mike Pelfrey, Kevin Correia and Rich Harden.
However, Minnesota may not be finished adding to their crop
of starters, as they now appear to be one of the several teams targeting
Saunders.
Saunders spent the 2012 season with the Arizona Diamondbacks
and Baltimore Orioles. Arizona shipped the left-hander to Baltimore in exchange
for right-handed reliever Matt Lindstrom. Saunders continued his solid campaign
in the American League East, even posting a pair of impressive starts in the
playoffs for the O’s.
Beyond the Twins, the Orioles are another team that’s been
heavily tied to Saunders.
