Red Sox Interested in Bobby Abreu

Bobby Abreu may not be done yet.  Despite being waived by the Los Angeles Angels early in the 2012 season, the veteran outfielder could make a come back in 2013.  The Boston Red Sox need help at first base and may be interested in Abreu.

According to Chris Cotillo of CLNS Radio, the Red Sox recently worked out Abreu in Venezuela.  The team has not publicly announced their interest in Abreu and their is not necessarily a deal imminent.  However, the fact that Boston worked him out proves their interest.

Abreu started the 2012 season with the Los Angeles Angels.  He was let go after just nine games with the team and picked up by the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Abreu played 92 games for the Dodgers and hit .246/.361/.344.  He is far from his old All-Star level self.

In his career, Abreu has hit .292/.396/.477.  He is a two-time All-Star and won one Gold Glove.  Abreu was one of the better outfielders in the game during the peak of his career.  However, he fell off in his later year.
