The Tampa Bay Rays continue to look around for a center
fielder, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN, who adds there’s “not much out
there.” Stark continues on to speculate that the Rays could be an ultimate
landing spot for free agent center fielder Michael Bourn.
I hear #Rays still looking around for a CF but not much out there. I wonder if they could be a landing spot for Michael Bourn. #justathought

Beyond Bourn, the only other free agent center fielders
remaining on the market are Nyjer Morgan, Scott Podsednik and Grady Sizemore. Morgan
and Podsednik started 48 and 18 games in center last season for the Milwaukee
Brewers and Boston Red Sox, while Sizemore missed the entire year due to
injury.
Sizemore provides a higher upside potential than Morgan or
Podsednik, but he’s said that he may wait until mid-season to sign with a team.
The 30-year-old wants to be completely healthy before signing with his next
club.
Bourn might be had at a reduced cost considering he’s
remaining on the market this long into the winter. However, his agent is Scott
Boras, and there’s no telling what type of contract the free agent may still
wind up with.
