Rangers Rumors: Texas ‘Moving On’ from Diamondbacks’ Justin Upton

The Texas Rangers don’t expect to re-engage in trade talks with the Arizona Diamondbacks for outfielder Justin Upton following last night’s announcement that the slugger rejected a deal that would have sent him to the Seattle Mariners, according to Evan Grant of the The Dallas Morning News.

The Rangers made the Diamondbacks their final offer before the nixed deal with the Mariners was announced, and Grant says Texas is “moving on.” Prior to their agreement with Seattle, Arizona made Texas one final offer which the Rangers declined, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

The Rangers have been looking to make a splash all offseason, but so far they have missed out on potential impact players, including Justin Hamilton, Nick Swisher, Zack Greinke, Josh Johnson and James Shields. It now looks like they are out of the running for Upton as well.

Beyond the Rangers, the Baltimore Orioles, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres have all explored trades for Upton.
