It’s been reported that the Miami Marlins are willing to
listen to trade offers on right fielder Giancarlo Stanton this offseason, and
there’s been “lots of interest” expressed in the young slugger, according to
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. However, sources tell Rosenthal to all but rule
out a deal, adding that the chances of a Stanton trade are “as close to zero as
they can be.”

The Marlins have gutted their team in the matter of months,
trading away players such as Anibal Sanchez, Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Josh
Johnson, Hanley Ramirez and Emilio Bonifacio. However, it doesn’t appear Miami
will also be shipping out Stanton this winter.
Still, while he may enter the 2013 season with the Marlins,
Stanton is expected to be traded before he reaches the free agent market
following the 2016 campaign. This is due to the fact that the slugger isn’t expected to sign a long-term contract extension with the Marlins beforereaching the open market.
