Kyle Lohse Yet to Receive Offer

Former St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Kyle Lohse has yet to receive an official offer from a club this winter after a career year in 2012. The 34-year-old is by the far the best arm available but still has yet to field an offer most likely because he has a compensation pick tied to him since he turned down the Cardinals qualifying offer.

MLB.com's Ian Browne seems to think that the Boston Red Sox might be somewhat interested in Loshe. Browne stating that the Red Sox have a great working relationship with Loshe’s agent Scott Boras.

Teams that are reported to be interested are the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, and Baltimore Orioles. The Mariners could be looking for a nice addition to back up Felix Hernandez considering they don’t have much else. The Rangers came up short on both Zach Greinke and Edwin Jackson this offseason so they could be an outside shot since they have yet to sign a pitcher. Lastly the Baltimore Orioles could use Lohse as a safety net if they fail to get Joe Saunders.

Kyle Lohse had a 2.86 ERA last year going 16-3 in 33 starts. Sooner or later he will end up somewhere and he will be a great addition to the middle of a rotation.
