While the Cleveland Indians announced an agreement with
right-hander Brett Myers yesterday, they have also recently been talking with free
agent starter Shaun Marcum, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.
#Indians have had dialogue with free agent starter Shaun Marcum, source says. But now they have signed Brett Myers, per @jonheymancbs.

It’s not yet clear how #Indians reported agreement with Brett Myers will impact Shaun Marcum pursuit.

Morosi adds that at this point it’s not clear how the
Indians’ deal with Myers will impact their pursuit of Marcum.
Last season Marcum made 21 starts for the Milwaukee Brewers,
posting an ERA of 3.70. The 31-year-old owns a career ERA and WHIP of 3.76 and
1.224 with 7.3 strikeouts and 2.8 walks per nine innings over seven seasons at
the major league level.
With the addition of Myers, the Indians currently have six
candidates for their rotation, also including Trevor Bauer, Ubaldo Jimenez,
Zach McAllister, Carlos Carrasco and Corey Kluber.

Justin Masterson is also a "candidate" for the starting rotation.
ReplyDeleteGood call! I think he should have a spot locked down even after his shaky 2012 campaign.
