Scott Elbert is no longer going to be ready for Opening Day. At least it seems that way. Elbert underwent surgery last November to repair some damaged cartilage. Unfortunately, the surgery did not fully correct the problem, and Elbert had to go back in.
According to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, Elbert underwent another arthroscopic procedure in Los Angeles yesterday.
Scott Elbert underwent a left elbow arthroscopy today in Los Angeles. The recovery time for the surgery is expected to be at least six weeks. It would be difficult to imagine Elbert being available for Opening Day.

Elbert has posted a sub-3.00 ERA in each of his last two seasons with the Dodgers. He appeared in 43 games last season and had a 2.20 ERA. The Dodgers are counting on him when he is healthy, but they were expecting this injury to cause him to miss time. They went out and signed J.P. Howell as a contingency plan.
