The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to weigh offers for
outfielders Justin Upton and Jason Kubel, and the team wants to deal one of the
two players “sooner rather than later,” according to Buster Olney of ESPN.

Upton has been the Diamondbacks’ outfielder garnering most
of the offseason spotlight, but Olney adds that Arizona feels like they have a
good chance at “getting suitable value” for Kubel, should they decide to trade
him.
The Diamondbacks currently have four starters in their
outfield, including Upton, Kubel, Cody Ross and Gerardo Parra. Arizona also has
young outfield candidates such as Adam Eaton waiting in the wings. For this
reason, it appears the club will trade one of their extra outfielders before
the start of spring training.
Upton is the bigger name because of his age, 25, and
impressive track record, .278/.357/.475. However, teams are also expressing
interest in Kubel as a one-year option with a relatively affordable contract.
