Brandon Webb to Throw for Several Teams This Month

Former National League Cy Young award-winner Brandon Webb is going to give it one more shot.  He has been out of baseball since 2009 - and he only made one start that season.  That's a long time to be away from the game, but Webb will audition for som einterested clubs.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports says Webb is scheduled to throw for teams this month.

Webb was once one of the game's best pitchers, going 16-8 with a 3.10 ERA in 2006 when he won the Cy Young, but he has battled a series of shoulder injuries.  Treatment options for Webb have generally all failed, and he has been kept away from the game because of the failures.  Now, after surgery and rehab, Webb is ready to give it another shot.

The specific teams interested are not known, but there will surely be quite a bit of interest considering the suddenly thin poitching market now.  After free agent signings and trades, there are not many pitchers left on the market.  This could bode well for Webb.

Webb is 87-62 with a 3.27 ERA.  He is a three-time All-Star.
