There is a growing sense in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization
that free agent right-hander Zack Greinke is going to wind up signing with the
Texas Rangers, reports Scott Miller of CBS Sports.
Growing feeling among #Dodgers people that Greinke may wind up w/ #Rangers. Reasoning: If he really wanted LA, could have signed by now
— Scott Miller (@ScottMCBS) December 6, 2012
Miller notes that this is the general sentiment among some Dodgers’ officials because if Greinke really wanted to sign with Los Angeles he could have done so by now.
There is some speculation that Greinke’s wife, who is a
former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, could influence the right-hander into
signing with the Rangers. Wherever he ends up, Greinke could be receiving a
contract providing him with more than $160 million.
There are reports that Greinke could sign by the end of the
winter meetings, which wrap up today, or the end of the week. It appears to be
down to the Rangers and Dodgers, while other teams, including the Los Angeles
Angels, could still make a late push in the Greinke sweepstakes.
