Zack Greinke Rumors: Dodgers ‘Determined’ to Sign Free Agent

The Los Angeles Dodgers are “determined” to sign free agent Zack Greinke, no matter the cost, and it’s pretty clear they are going to extend the right-hander his largest offer of the winter, reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.

But it seems pretty clear who is going to offer Greinke the biggest deal. The Dodgers seem determined to sign him, no matter the cost.

While Heyman makes it sound like the Dodgers are going to offer Greinke far-and-away the highest free agent contract, Joel Sherman of the New York Post later reported that the Texas Rangers are right there with Los Angeles “in willing to spend on Greinke.”

Sherman adds that the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Angels, two teams that have been tied to Greinke this offseason, have “all but fallen out” of the sweepstakes at these current prices.

Last season with the Milwaukee Brewers and Angels Greinke maintained an ERA and WHIP of 3.48 and 1.196 over 34 starts. The 29-year-old owns a career ERA and WHIP of 3.77 and 1.247 with 8.0 strikeouts and 2.3 walks per nine innings.
