Yankees Rumors: Yankees Still Seeking Bat

Even after the signing of free agent Matt Diaz, the New York Yankees are probably still in the market for a right-handed bat, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Diaz was signed to a minor league deal, but the Yankees could still target more of a sure bet to fill out their roster. While they are reportedly in the market for a right-handed bat, New York is expected to specifically be targeting a right-handed-hitting outfielder.

At this point the Yankees’ roster includes three left-handed-hitting outfielders in Brett Gardner, Curtis Granderson and Ichiro Suzuki. They’d reportedly like to add a right-handed bat to the mix, but the pickings are slim this late into the winter.

One of the best fits remaining is Scott Hairston, who has been tied to the Yankees as well as several other teams. He hit well last season for the New York Mets and has garnered significant interest this offseason.
