Yankees Rumors: NY Targeting Wells, Hairston and Baker

While the New York Yankees are not close to acquiring an outfielder at this point, the team continues to pursue a right-handed bat, with the potential targets including Vernon Wells of the Los Angeles Angels and free agents Scott Hairston and Jeff Baker, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

The Yankees current crop of outfielders includes three left-handed hitters; Ichiro Suzuki, Curtis Granderson and Brett Gardner. As such, New York is looking to add a right-hander to the mix.

None of the three potential targets Heyman mentions would be counted on as full-time players for the Yankees. Hairston was the most productive of the bunch last season, but any of the trio New York would acquire would be utilized as a platoon-type player.
