A guy who used to throw 200 innings as a starter and was an effective closer is still out there. The market for him may soon develop, and while the Twins already have acquired Vance Worley in the Ben Revere deal with the Phillies, and have signed Kevin Correia, Mike Pelfrey, and Rich Harden, they could very well dabble in Myers, who should also garner interest from the Padres. He would appear to be one of the next big pitchers to go, along with Kyle Lohse.

Myers spent the 2012 season as a late-inning reliever for the Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox, but he’s said that he’d prefer to start in 2013. The Twins already have a projected rotation that includes Scott Diamond, Worley, Mike Pelfrey and Kevin Correia, but they could add Myers to fill it out.

Last season Myers maintained an ERA and WHIP of 3.31 and 1.224 over 70 appearances. From 2010-11 the 32-year-old averaged more than 30 starts per season for the Astros while posting an ERA and WHIP of 3.79 and 1.276.
