Texas Rangers assistant general manager Thad Levine told Jim
Bowden of ESPN that the team hasn’t yet discussed free agents Kyle Lohse or
Adam LaRoche. Levine added that the Rangers are currently more focused
improving their team via trade than free agency.

The Rangers have already missed out on several players this
offseason, including free agents Zack Greinke, Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli,
as well as trade targets James Shields and Justin Upton.
While Lohse and LaRoche would represent upgrades to the Rangers’
lineup and rotation, the team hasn’t targeted either player up to this point.
However, we’ve seen how quickly things can change in Texas with GM Jon Daniels
running the show.
With Texas focusing more on trade than free agency, the club
could revisit trade talks with Arizona regarding Upton. However, at this point
it appears like the Diamondbacks are interested in trading Jason Kubel after
signing Cody Ross.
