The Philadelphia Phillies continue to pursue a center
fielder this offseason, and their list of targets is made up of several free
agents, including Josh Hamilton and Michael Bourn, as well as Curtis Granderson
of the New York Yankees, Dexter Fowler of the Colorado Rockies and Ben Revere
of the Minnesota Twins, reports Danny Knobler of CBS Sports.
The Phillies' five-man list for center field includes two free agents (Michael Bourn and Josh Hamilton) and three potential trade targets (Curtis Granderson of the Yankees, Ben Revere of the Twins and Dexter Fowler of the Rockies).
Entering the offseason the Phillies top two center field
targets were reportedly B.J. Upton and Angel Pagan. Philadelphia offered Upton
a contract, but he ultimately signed with the Atlanta Braves, while Pagan
re-upped with the San Francisco Giants.
The Phillies are left with Bourn and Hamilton, who’s
considered more of a corner outfielder, as free agent option. Both players may
be out of the club’s price range, so Philadelphia may be left scouring the
trade market to fill their void in center.
