Phillies Rumors: Philly Targeting Cody Ross, Ichiro Suzuki

Even after acquiring center fielder Ben Revere from the Minnesota Twins, the Philadelphia Phillies are in the market for additional outfielders and have considered free agents Cody Ross and Ichiro Suzuki, reports Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly.

The Phillies have long liked Ross and they have seriously considered Suzuki, according to sources.

The Phillies checked one to-do off their list at the winter meetings when they traded Vance Worley and Trevor May to the Twins for Revere. While the team now has a center fielder in the fold, they are still said to be looking for corner outfielders.

While there’s been a run on center fielders, several corner outfield options remain, including Ross, Suzuki, Nick Swisher and Josh Hamilton. The Phillies have been connected to all four players at some point this offseason, but Salisbury notes the team has “long liked” Ross and “seriously considered” Suzuki.

Suzuki could likely be had on a one-year deal, though there have been rumblings that he may be waiting on an offer from the New York Yankees. Ross, on the other hand, is reportedly seeking a three-year contract in the $20 million range.
