Phillies Rumors: Philly Discuss Dexter Fowler with Rockies

In their pursuit of a center fielder, the Philadelphia Phillies have talked to the Colorado Rockies about a trade involving Dexter Fowler, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

The Phillies are in need of a center fielder, and they’ve made the position their top priority this offseason. Two of their free agent targets, B.J. Upton and Angel Pagan, are already off the board. Philadelphia reportedly isn’t as much of a fit for fellow free agents Michael Bourn and former Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino.

If not Bourn or Victorino, the Phillies may be forced to move on to the trade market to find their center fielder. If they target Fowler he won’t come cheap, as the Rockies seek pitching, both pieces they can plug into their major league roster now and prospects for later, in return, according to Rosenthal.

Beyond Fowler, the Phillies have been tied to Los Angeles Angels outfielder Peter Bourjos.
