The New York Mets are looking to re-stock their rotation
following the trade of Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey, and the team has expressed
interest in free agents Carl Pavano, Chris Young and Shaun Marcum as well as
Chris Capuano and Aaron Harang of the Los Angeles Dodgers, reports Ken Davidoff
of The New York Daily News.
In fact, Pavano isn’t even the only member of the 2012 Twins who sits on the Mets’ radar. The club also has reached out to left-hander Francisco Liriano and many of the other remaining free-agent pitchers, including 2011 and 2012 Met Chris Young and Shaun Marcum, who spent the last two seasons with Milwaukee.
Beyond their interest in starting pitchers, the Mets also
continue to search for a right-handed-hitting outfielder, according to
Davidoff. He points out the two most obvious options as free agent Cody Ross
and former Mets outfielder Scott Hairston.
Whatever moves the Mets ultimately make, they are likely to
come after the new year with the holidays approaching.
