Marlins Rumors: Miami Eyeing Miguel Tejada, Placido Polanco, Brandon Inge

The Miami Marlins are “so unhappy” with their current options at third base that they’ve checked in on veteran infielder Miguel Tejada while he’s playing in winter ball, reports Jayson Stark of ESPN. Stark adds that the Marlins have also kicked the tires on fellow veterans Placido Polanco and Brandon Inge.

The Marlins traded away a pair of third base options in Hanley Ramirez and Emilio Bonifacio in the past six months and do not like the in-house options that remain. The free agent market for third basemen was weak, and now that players such as Kevin Youkilis and Jeff Keppinger have been snatched up there’s little remaining.

Tejada didn’t play at the major league level in 2012, while Polanco and Inge saw their production continue to drop off. The market for all three players has been extremely quiet since the offseason began.
