The Mariners have seemingly been tied to every available
potential impact bat on the market. While they are reportedly a real suitor for
Josh Hamilton, they appear to be spreading their nets around in hopes of not
leaving the winter stage without additional offense. Seattle signed outfielder
Jason Bay this week.
Ross signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Boston
Red Sox last offseason. Following his productive 2012 campaign he’s reportedly
seeking a deal in the range of the three-year, $21 million contract Josh
Willingham signed with the Minnesota Twins last winter.
Last season with the Red Sox Ross hit .267/.326/.481 with 34
doubles and 22 home runs. The 31-year-old has hit .262/.324/.460 over nine
seasons at the major league level.
