Kevin Youkilis Rumors: Free Agent Deciding Between Indians, Yankees

While free agent corner infielder Kevin Youkilis is decided between offers from the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees, it will be “at least a mild surprise” if he turns down the contract the Bronx Bombers have extended, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

Youkilis likes winning and doesn’t “shy away from limelight,” which Heyman says would make him a fit for New York. The slugger also has experience playing in the American League East, as he spent a majority of his professional career with the Boston Red Sox.

New York has expressed significant interest in Youkilis following word of Alex Rodriguez’s hip injury. The slugger has an offer on the table from the Yankees of one-year and $12 million. However, the Indians have reportedly extended Youkilis two years at a total value of approximately $18 million.
