The Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers and Cleveland Indians
have all shown “active interest” in Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Justin
Upton, reports Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.

It was later reported by Nick Piecoro of the Arizona
Republic that the Atlanta Braves, Mariners and Indians were all collecting
background information and character assessments on Upton to ensure he would be
a fit on their teams.
The Mariners have made it clear that they’re searching for
offense this winter, both through the free agent and trade markets. The
Diamondbacks reportedly want pitching and/or a shortstop, and Seattle has
multiple young arms to go with shortstop prospect Nick Franklin.
Texas has a pair of shortstops in Jurickson Profar and Elvis
Andrus, but they’ve said they’re not inclined to trade either player. The
Indians, meanwhile, have reportedly been willing to listen to offers for
shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera.
