While the Boston Red Sox are “very unlikely” to sign free
agent outfielder Josh Hamilton, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the New
York Yankees have recently checked in on the slugger’s medical records, reports
Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

The Red Sox have already added a pair of outfielders this
offseason in Shane Victorino and Jonny Gomes, and they’re unlikely to make a
run at Hamilton. While Boston isn’t expected to sign the highly-coveted free
agent, the Seattle Mariners are “real” players for him, according to Heyman.
The Yankees find themselves in need of an outfielder after
watching Nick Swisher and Ichiro Suzuki hit the open market following the
season. However, New York is thought the be cash strapped at the moment, and
they recently had another hole open up on their roster with Alex Rodriguez’s
hip injury.
