Free agent outfielder Nick Swisher is “giving serious
consideration” to the four-year, $52 million offer the Cleveland Indians have
extended him, reports Jim Bowden of ESPN.

Bowden adds that while Swisher would prefer to sign with the
Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels or New York Yankees, there isn’t a
comparable offer from those clubs. The free agent wishes to wind up in Los
Angeles or New York for the sake of his wife’s acting career, according to
Bowden.
Last season for the Yankees Swisher hit .272/.364/.473 with
36 doubles and 24 home runs. The 32-year-old has hit .268/.367/.483 over his
past four seasons in New York and owns a career line of .256/.361/.467 in nine
years at the major league level.
Beyond Swisher, the Indians have targeted other outfielders
this offseason, including Shane Victorino before he signed with the Boston Red
Sox.
