Giants Rumors: San Francisco Seriously Considering Shane Victorino

The San Francisco Giants are one of the two teams that are believed to have extended free agent center fielder Angel Pagan a four-year offer, but if they don’t land him they are expected to “seriously consider” Shane Victorino, reports Buster Olney of ESPN.

The Giants acquired Pagan last season from the New York Mets and he played a key role in their World Series-winning 2012 campaign. However, Pagan has hit the open market and San Francisco is now left seeking a center fielder.

Along with the Phillies, who are also believed to have extended Pagan a four-year offer, the Giants have expressed interest in the center fielder. If San Francisco is unable to land Pagan, they could turn their attention to Victorino.

Victorino hit .255/.321/.383 with 29 doubles and 11 home runs over 595 at-bats with the Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers last season. The 32-year-old owns a career line of .275/.341/.430 over nine seasons at the major league level.
