After signing Zack Greinke and Ryu Hyun-jin the Los Angeles
Dodgers veteran starting pitchers Aaron Harang and Chris Capuano are “even more
in play,” reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
Righty Zack Greinke and lefty Ryu Hyun-jin turned out to be those two starters, and now Harang and Capuano are even more in play.
With the additions of Greinke and Ryu, the Dodgers now have a
bevy of viable options for their starting rotation, also including Capuano,
Harang, Clayton Kershaw, Josh Beckett, Chad Billingsley and Ted Lilly. For this
reason there’s a chance that Los Angeles trades both Capuano and Harang to fill
other areas of need this winter.
Capuano posted an ERA and WHIP of 3.72 and 1.220 over 33
starts last season. Meanwhile, Harang maintained marks of 3.61 and 1.403 over
31 starts for the Dodgers in 2012.
According to Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi, the Pittsburgh
Pirates, Seattle Mariners, Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland
Indians are among the teams checking in on Capuano and Harang.
