If the Los Angeles Dodgers miss out on right-hander Zack
Greinke, their plan B would be to move on to other free agents, including
Anibal Sanchez or Kyle Lohse, or look to trade for a starter, such as New York
Mets right-hander R.A. Dickey, reports Jim Bowden of ESPN.
Dodgers plan B after Greinke appears to be Anibal Sanchez over Kyle Lohse according to a Dodger source with a trade for Dickey also possible

While the Dodgers entered the offseason considered the
favorite to sign Greinke, the Texas Rangers have slowly gained ground and
perhaps have even taken over the lead in the chase for the right-hander. It’s
been reported that Los Angeles has become pessimistic regarding their chances
of landing Greinke, as they believe if he wanted to sign with them he would
have done so by now.
Beyond Greinke, the Dodgers have been tied to several other
free agent arms, including Sanchez and Lohse. Both are not in the same category
as Greinke, considered by some to be a No. 1 starter, but they are certainly
capable and did post promising campaigns in 2012.
The Dodgers could also decide to get creative and swing
trades for pitchers thought to be available this winter, including Dickey and
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander James Shields.
