Yesterday it was reported that free agent Edwin Jackson had
narrowed his list of suitors down to two teams; the Chicago Cubs and Texas
Rangers. Now, Jim Bowden of ESPN is saying that the Cubs are the frontrunner
for Jackson.

Bowden adds that Jackson and his representation are
continuing negotiations with both the Cubs and the Rangers at this time, and he
says an offer of four years and $52 million is in the “ball park.”
The Cubs have been attempting to replenish their rotation this
winter through free agency, as they’ve already signed Scott Baker and Scott
Feldman and are reportedly nearing an agreement with Carlos Villanueva. Chicago
has also targeted Anibal Sanchez.
Whatever offseason additions they end up making will join a
rotation that already includes incumbents Jeff Samardzija, Matt Garza and
Travis Wood.
