Cubs Manager Dale Sveum Accidently Shot Hunting With Robin Yount

An off-season hunting trip ended with a scary mishap for former Milwaukee Brewer teammates, current Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum and Hall of Famer Robin Yount.

While hunting in quail in Arizona recently, a shot fired by the 1999 Cooperstown inductee hit Sveum, according to a report by the Associated Press.

"I was just looking for birds myself. It was behind me, so I got drilled with pellets in the back and one stuck in the ear."  Sveum continued, "The bird got up in front of him, and he lost track of where I was and pulled the trigger".  "You don't get hit very often," Sveum said. "It's not that big a deal."

Sveum brushed off the incident Tuesday at the baseball winter meetings and said he did not require stitches.

Sveum was approximately 50 yards in front of Yount when the accident occurred.   Sveum joked that he started calling Yount "Dick Cheney," a reference to the former vice president who once accidentally shot a friend while hunting.
