The St. Louis Cardinals and infielder Ty Wigginton reached a
two-year, $5 million agreement yesterday, as reported by Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports,
which will pay the veteran $2.5 million in 2013 and 2014.

Wigginton became a free agent this offseason when the
Philadelphia Phillies declined his $4 million team option for the 2013 season,
instead opting for a $500,000 buyout.
Wigginton has the ability to play all over the infield as
well as the outfield. Last season with the Phillies he hit .235/.314/.375 with
11 doubles and 11 home runs while manning first and third base as well as left
field. The 35-year-old also has experience in right field and second base.
While Wigginton has hit a respectable .263/.324/.438 over
his 11-year career, the veteran owns a line of .270/.354/.456 versus
left-handed pitching.
