It was reported yesterday that the Chicago Cubs had reached
an agreement with free agent Anibal Sanchez, but it’s since come out that the
right-hander is down to deciding between the Cubs and his former team, the
Detroit Tigers, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
There will be no decision tonight by Sanchez, as talks with #Cubs and #Tigers continue in morning

Sanchez has reportedly narrowed his list to two teams, and he
will continue negotiations today. An announcement could be right around the
corner as an agreement may be made before the weekend.
The Cubs are an intriguing suitor for Sanchez, as they are
generally considered to be a rebuilding team. Still, putting together a
rotation built around Sanchez and Matt Garza would be a nice starting point.
Also, Sanchez is 28 so Chicago could still view a signing as an investment in
its future.
The Tigers would be signing Sanchez with intentions of
winning now. Detroit acquired the right-hander last summer from the Miami
Marlins in exchange for prospects including Jacob Turner and Rob Brantley.
While he was initially viewed as a half-season rental, the Tigers made it clear
from the start that they had interest in re-signing Sanchez this offseason.
