Angels Rumors: LA Interested in Mets Dickey, Niese

After signing free agent outfielder Josh Hamilton yesterday the Los Angeles Angels continue to have an eye on the pitching market, as the club is interested in New York Mets starters R.A. Dickey and Jonathon Niese, reports Matthew Cerrone of MetsBlog.com.

While the Texas Rangers have “sounded like the best option for Dickey” throughout the offseason because they’re more willing to trade their young hitters, the Mets reportedly have concerns about the team’s top prospects, including Mike Olt and Leonys Martin.

Meanwhile, the Angels have several intriguing young players of their own that the Mets could potentially be interested in. Center fielder Peter Bourjos is reportedly available, and while LA has said it’s not trading first baseman/outfielder Mark Trumbo Cerrone believes otherwise. He thinks that slugger Kendrys Morales and starting pitcher Garrett Richards could also be had for the right starting pitcher.

Anibal Sanchez appears set to sign with a team not named the Rangers or Angels, so Dickey could become that much more valuable in the near future if both teams continue to target him.
