While the Los Angeles Angels are now viewed as unlikely to re-sign
right-hander Zack Greinke this winter, the Los Angeles Dodgers are seen as the
frontrunner for the market’s top starter, reports Jim Bowden of ESPN.

After trading Ervin Santana and electing not to exercise Dan
Haren’s 2013 option, the Angels basically went all-in for Greinke. They were
viewed as the favorite to ink the right-hander entering the offseason, but Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com is now reporting that they are unlikely to sign him.
While Greinke seems destined for a record contract, some
believe in the six-year, $150 million range, Knobler notes that the Angels just
“don’t seem willing to provide that.” Though free agent situations can change
quickly, the Angels’ focus has “shifted away from Greinke,” according to
Knobler.
Beyond the Angels, the Dodgers, Texas Rangers and Washington
Nationals are the teams that have also been tied to Greinke.
