Twins Rumors: Denard Span Trade ‘Coming’

The Minnesota Twins are expected to have an “active” winter meetings next week in Nashville, and there’s belief that a trade of center fielder Denard Span “is coming,” reports 1500 ESPN.

The same source said of next week's winter meetings in Nashville: "Look for an active meetings." The belief is a trade of center fielder Denard Span is coming.

Span has been on the trade block for what’s seemed like years, but it appears his tenure in Minnesota could be coming to an end shortly. There is a demand for center fielders this winter, and Span would likely draw interest from teams such as the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals, among others.

Span is set to make a guaranteed $11.25 million over the next two seasons, and his contract also includes a $9 million team option for 2015. He’s hit .284/.357/.389 over five seasons at the major league level.

  1. Are the Twins still relevant? Curse of Target Field!

    1. Eventually they will figure out how to play in that park. Then, maybe they will be relevant again.

    2. It's certainly been a tough stretch for them. Hard to believe they made the playoffs six of nine years between 2002-10.

    3. In the Al Central, anyone can become relevant, especially now in the 2 Wildcard team format, with just a few solid roster moves and a prolonged healthy season

    4. I completely agree, but I think the Tigers are trying to change that with the roster tey are building.
