Free agent outfielder Torii Hunter is reportedly nearing a
decision on where he’ll play next season, something that could be announced in
the next two weeks, and it appears to have come down to two teams, the Detroit
Tigers and Texas Rangers, reports Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.
Sources say there’s a good chance Torii Hunter will sign with the Tigers unless his hometown Rangers make a push -- which is very possible.

Hunter visited with the Tigers yesterday and it’s been
reported that he wants to sign with them. However, while Detroit may be the
favorite, Morosi indicates that there’s still time for Texas to swoop in and
make a push for the veteran slugger.
Hunter’s desire has been clear all along; sign with a team
he feels gives him a legitimate opportunity to win a World Series, something he’s
yet to do during his otherwise impressive career.
Both the Tigers and Rangers would appear solid choices with
this goal in mind. Both teams are seeking outfielders this winter, but the
Rangers were initially believed to hold an advantage considering Hunter’s home
is in Texas.
