The San Diego Padres are interested in free agent
right-hander Dan Haren, and they’re listing Shaun Marcum as their secondary
pitching target, reports Bill Center of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Padres are still interested in Haren. It's going to be a wait and see game. I'm sure the Padres have a ceiling on what they might spend for Haren.
Center indicates that it will be a “wait and see” game for
the Padres regarding Haren. The 32-year-old owns a career ERA of 3.66 and has
started at least 30 games since the 2005 season, making him appealing to many
clubs. However, he’s coming off a year where he dealt with back issues which
have teams closely inspecting his health records as they pursue him.
If they’re unable to land Haren, the Padres would likely
turn their attention to Marcum. Over 21 starts for the Milwaukee Brewers last
season the right-hander posted an ERA of 3.70. The 30-year-old owns a career
ERA of 3.76 over seven seasons in the majors.
