Multiple teams, including the Baltimore Orioles, Seattle
Mariners, Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants and
Washington Nationals, are believed to have “some level of interest” in free
agent outfielder Nick Swisher, reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
While he isn't going to be able to duplicate Jayson Werth’s $126 million contract, Nick Swisher is drawing interest from several teams interested in offense.
Entering the offseason it was reported that Swisher was
seeking a deal over $100 million in total value this winter. While Heyman doesn’t
expect him to reach this point, he does believe the outfielder could receive a
four-year offer given his amount of early interest. He adds that several teams
have shown interest in a three-year contract with a speculated average annual
salary of $11 to $13 million.
The New York Yankees are one team that doesn’t have interest
in Swisher, but they will collect a draft pick when he signs elsewhere. Swisher declined the Yankees’ qualifying offer of one-year, $13.3 million.
