Justin Upton Rumors: Diamondbacks Trying to Trade OF

The Arizona Diamondbacks are once again attempting to trade outfielder Justin Upton, and the chances of the talented slugger playing elsewhere next season are “80-20,” according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Major-league sources, however, say the team is again engaged in active discussions about Upton, and one estimates the chances of him playing elsewhere next season are "80-20."

The Diamondbacks have discussed trading Upton multiple times over the past few seasons, most recently during last summer’s trade deadline. While the team has said the outfielder is most likely to return, signs are again pointing that he could be on the move this winter.

Upton is young, he doesn’t turn 26 until next August, and talented, career line of .278/.357/.475. Still, the Diamondbacks have outfield depth and could opt to move the slugger for several impact pieces to help fill other areas of need.

Beyond Upton, Arizona has outfielders Jason Kubel and Gerardo Parra under contract for next season. The team also has several talented outfield prospects, including Adam Eaton and A.J. Pollock, who could fill out their major league roster next season.
